With players such as David Silva, Sergio Aguero, and Samir Nasri all capable of playing in the attacking midfield slot, Toure's main role in City's championship winning side was in holding midfield, given little freedom to go forward on one of his brilliant runs from deep.
With the acquisition of the Spanish midfielder Javi Garcia however, Toure might be seen in his favoured role of the two, behind the striker. The Ivorian definitely seems better in this position, without as many defensive responsibilities he has the freedom to be more attacking. In between both attack and midfield, he can also get involved in both the ventures forward and defending easily, whilst using his colossal build to
move into either areas with the aim to win the ball in the air - something he does so successfully.
With Tevez up front, Toure would work very well just behind the Argentinian, as due to Tevez' short height, the Ivorian will be needed to partake in the majority of the aerial duels.
I think we would all prefer to see Touré in this position he played in against Madrid, a front four of the Ivorian, Silva, Nasri and Tevez would be formidable, and amongst the best in the world. However, when Aguero comes back from injury, we are likely to see a 4-4-2 that Mancini uses often.
